PROJECT SCOPE —

UX/UI Design, Shopify Site Build

Overview

Build an eCommerce site for a new sun wellness skincare brand.

Designed at — BVA (acquired by Accenture Song)

Role — UX/UI Designer

Project date — 2021

Challenge

evry* is a skincare brand concept created within an incubator for consumer packaged goods (CPGs). The concept intended to inspire sun wellness through clean SPF protection for evry* moment under the sun.

The parent company of this brand incubator partnered with our agency to explore the idea of building an eCommerce site for the launch of sun wellness skincare products.

Approach

Brand education was an important aspect of this project, the client team highly valued clean, effective skincare formulas that were inclusive of every lifestyle, skin tone, and gender. evry* sought to emphasize their brand values of maintaining a positive, inclusive, and approachable shopping experience. We designed this site to feel lively and inviting while also creating opportunities for education about skincare wellness and sun protection while emphasizing the clean ingredient formulas developed for these SPF products.

Team

Project Manager — Jim Sturgill, Mike Browne

Design — Jonathan Black, Tiffany Newman

Tech — Patrick Sullivan, Alex Cevicelow, Omid Habedy

Brand Strategy — Kristen Stanise

Client Services — Eric Mount

To help consumers understand how the products look and feel, we highlighted the ingredients and textures associated with the products to deliver a more tangible shopping experience.

UI Kit

The evry* team came to us with a well-established style guide, which included a neon yellow-green and a light blue that set a light and cheery tone, but presented challenges to work with in terms of accessibility. As a result, we used the neon yellow-green as a highlighter to emphasize elements and we incorporated the light blue into backgrounds and call-to-action buttons.

Experience Design

Taxonomy & Navigation

evry* was set to launch its brand with just five products, with the intention to grow its product offerings over time. We designed the navigation to support the growth of the brand and product line.

Product Education

Amidst a highly saturated skincare and sun protection market, evry* intended to differentiate itself through clean ingredients and brand transparency. We sought to highlight those product attributes through product education sections on the product details pages.

Conclusion

Due to unforeseen circumstances, this project unfortunately did not launch due to internal decisions within the parent company. However, the brand incubator team was excited about the work our design team completed, so the project framework was retained for future product launches.
